On Monday it was with great regret we said goodbye to our Queen Elizabeth II at Place of Contribution, we had several people in attendance who joined us to watch the proceedings of the funeral on the projector, today our sense of community wasn't broken though, we had plenty of food including sandwiches and spaghetti bolognaise created by the Make it Happen team last night in the slow cooker, with plenty of vegan options, and plenty of cake to keep us all in high spirits, today was a great way to remember that through the highs and lows in life, the community of Place of Contribution will always be available for a chat and some tea and coffee, thank you all who attended - we’re confident we will all meet again!

Digital Inclusion photography sessions ventured into town to promote Birkenhead and inform other services of our aims through photography.
We first went to St Werburgh's Square in the town centre and discussed Neil’s own photography, which he had edited himself and had brought along with him. It’s Neil’s first week with us and we all felt he had a lot to offer our group!
We then went along to the Number 7 café, which also has a social supermarket on site and ask if we could take a few pics of their way of helping the community. They had no problem at all and granted us access and profiled what they do on a daily basis.
We then walked down to Nightingales and took pictures of their help they provide to the community, with the permission, of course, given by their manager.
The morning sunshine set us all in a vibrant mood and we all felt we achieved our outcomes of learning more about photography and how the local services in Birkenhead town help in their way.

At our weekly Nourish to Flourish session we got stuck right into the necessary preparation needed for redecorating the Make It Happen social supermarket whilst having hot drinks and a cheeky knitting session.
We also discussed the upcoming workshop and course that will be delivered at Place of Contribution starting on 27th of September, which will continue right up to the 18th October, these courses will be delivered through the Wirral Environmental Network and will be about the environment, with topics such as recycling and food waste and how we can save money whilst protecting the environment we all encompass - spaces are limited so if you're interested please get in touch as soon as possible thank you! Please ring and ask for Hussain or Amy on 01513064840 or email info@makeithappenbirkenhead.co.uk

Yesterday was incredible and a great achievement for the Wirral, we had the amazing Diana Powell (Wirral Unplugged CIC) who hosted the session at Place of Contribution and did a fabulous job doing so. Wirral Metropolitan College also got involved with creating road signs and painting rocks (like little bugs) hand picked at Thurstaston Beach by the Make it Happen team for an upcoming community event - Summer Cycle. Our Creative Corner group had a lot of fun painting and using their imagination to make the upcoming event more colourful, thank you everyone who got involved, we couldn't have done it without you, well done!

This week's group CARE project session was facilitated by the leader, Amy Butterworth. Subjects covered ranged from Boundaries and Safeguarding within the workplace through to a Question and Answer Session.
Afterwards one of our volunteers said "It was really interesting to get a 'behind the scenes' perspective of how Make It Happen functions." It is wonderful that our volunteers are gaining useful knowledge to aid them in their future projects and possibly in returning to employment through participating in our CARE programme.

We enjoyed a taste of France at our Place of Contribution breakfast morning, Croque Monsieur or Madame with a fresh orange, tea/coffee or those with a sweet tooth indulged in a pain au chocolat or croissant with strawberry jam. A slice of the continent right on your doorstep, Bon Appetit!
